Thoughts on Wisdom

It is said that everything is divided by moments of transition and moments of revelation -- instants of change and epiphanies of understanding. During these moments, we look at the world and wait. We wait, our breath held, caught between expiration and inspiration.

But what of the periods between these moments, the times between tick and tock? What lies between what is and what will be? During these times, the external has not yet become itself, so all we see is a mirror reflecting possibilities -- all we see is ourself.

It is strange that of all the unknowns we fear, the greatest fear is always of what we will become -- of the parts and paths within us that we have not allowed ourselves to see.

That's what wisdom is, you know: the ability to look inside ourselves and not be afraid of what we find. But wisdom is not self-mastery, that requires something more. True self-confidence comes with the ability to look inside and known that everything within us is enough.
